BA Theatre: Theatre Arts Management

Through the Theatre: Theatre Arts Management concentration, students develop skills and gain knowledge related to the management, administration and support of nonprofit cultural agencies, institutions, and performing arts organizations.

Classroom learning is enhanced by hands-on experiences, such as working within the Theatre Department and gaining field experience by completing an internship within a professional arts and cultural organization.

The SRU Theatre Arts Management concentration has also been enhanced by relationships with the Midwestern Arts and Humanities Foundation, the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, and numerous other local and regional arts organizations and artists.

Finally, since 2016, SRU has toured six productions to the world’s largest international theatre festival, the Festival Fringe in Edinburgh, Scotland. Our arts managers return from this program having been responsible for marketing, front-of-house, stage management, and box office operations for a professional production on an international stage.

Slippery Rock University is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre. All tracks in the Theatre Department have been recognized for having met and/or exceeded the standards set for undergraduate theatre degree programs by the nationwide accrediting body.
