The Leadership Certificate is intended for established artists and managers, with two compulsory courses in Cultural Equity and Cultural Policy & Advocacy, and two electives – all from our selection of advanced courses.

Goals and Objectives

The Leadership Certificate provides advanced skills and innovative knowledge necessary for emerging, mid-career and seasoned arts managers from the nation’s leading provider of affordable, online arts management education.

The Certificate offers the opportunity to address the field’s changing issues with experienced faculty and peers from across the nation and around the world.


Two (2) Special Topic Courses – select from the following:
Cultural Equity in the Arts
Cultural Policy and Advocacy

Two (2) Advanced Courses – select from the following:
Board Development
Creative Economy and Placemaking
Grantwriting for the Arts
Greening your Nonprofit Arts Organization
Strategic Planning


The Leadership Certificate is intended for arts managers and cultural leaders with three or more years of varied work in the arts management field. Unlike our other certificate programs, admission to the Leadership Certificate program is competitive.

To apply, email a brief, 1-2 paragraph letter of interest (why you are interested in the program and what you hope it will do for your career) and a 1-2 page resume with related work experience and education to [email protected].
Please include a current mailing address and phone number. There is no application fee.

Deadlines to apply are:
December 31, for Spring start
April 15, for Summer start
August 15, for Fall start
