AAAE 2025-2026 EDI Research Fellow, C. Belén Lengua Parra, will
present the findings of her research “ Managing and Leading through
Uncertainty: Strategies from Nonprofit Theater Organizations in the
Northeastern United States”

The study examines how nonprofit theaters in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia are navigating the current equity, diversity, and inclusion climate. It explores the strategies and tactics organizations use to address challenges and adapt across five several
areas: finances, fundraising, programming, audience engagement.

Introduced by fellow’s mentor, Rosemary Polegato, Professor and Faculty of Social Sciences at Mount Allison University, Canada and AAAE Board member.
