Goldsmiths - University of London: BA Arts Management

I work within the Cultural Exchange and Planning team at the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, a designated institute under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The BA Arts Management course features a well-balanced curriculum, focussing not just on the practical aspects but also on academic theory. I was able to learn about diverse cultural theories and experience the arts and culture field first-hand at the same time, coming to a deeper understanding of the industry. With the Goldsmiths campus situated in London, one of the most important cities in the arts and culture industry, I was able to directly experience everything that was being taught in class, whilst immersing myself in various arts and culture from all over the world. In addition, the extensive choice of optional modules — media arts, music, theatre, visual arts and sociology amongst others — enabled me to further explore into specific fields that I was also interested in. This brought greater clarity in appreciating what it means to manage arts and related organisations. Amidst the many opportunities for students studying in London, I organised numerous exhibitions, managed a contemporary dance team and participated in several cultural festivals.

I had many career paths to choose from when job seeking after graduation, thanks to the sheer amount of practical experience I gained in the field during my years in London. Studying at Goldsmiths proved to be a pivotal moment in my life and has brought great opportunities that I would not have otherwise had.
