Megan Sear | Arts Administration
Alumni
Kutztown University of Pennsylvania: Arts Administration
Hometown: Allentown, PA
Undergraduate Degree: Bachelor of Arts in Dance and English Ursinus College
Fun fact: Megan got to live and work in Boston for six weeks over the summer.
What is your connection to the arts?
Megan grew up dancing at local studios in the Lehigh Valley but became passionate about dance as an art form in college. Her experience was great there as far as performance opportunities, amazing
professors, and just a welcoming arts environment. Now she teaches dance and loves to go to performances of all kinds. While she knew she wasn’t cut out to perform for a living, she wanted to remain in the arts in any way she could, which led her here!
Why did you choose KU?
Megan chose Kutztown because it was a financially reasonable choice. But she is glad she discovered KU because Arts Administration programs aren’t that common in higher education, yet.
What do you hope to get out of the program?
Megan would love to have more practical business skills in topics like marketing and finance, and also to understand how organizations of other arts disciplines function; like art museums/galleries, charities, and orchestras.
Which course are you most excited to take/have taken?
Megan loved Fundraising and Development in the Arts and she is excited to take Ethical and Legal Issues in the Arts.
Favorite local hangout?
Southside Bethlehem (they have a Saxby’s Coffee) and lots of performances to see at
ArtsQuest, Zoellner, and Touchstone!
