Press-Release: AAAE to Receive First-Ever Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to Support Mentorship Program

The Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE) is pleased to announce it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to receive a Grant for Arts Projects award of $30,000.

We’re honored to be one of 1,251 Grants for Arts Projects awards totaling nearly $28.8 million that were announced by the NEA as part of its first round of fiscal year 2023 grants, and we are thrilled to be able to deliver new programming to our membership.

“The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support arts projects in communities nationwide,” said NEA Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD. “Projects such as this one with AAAE strengthen arts and cultural ecosystems, provide equitable opportunities for arts participation and practice, and contribute to the health of our communities and our economy.”

This funding will support AAAE’s first year-round Mentorship Program and will allow emerging arts administration educators and practitioners to be paired with seasoned arts administration educators and/or practitioners.

“In addition to receiving rigorous individualized guidance, mentees will engage in co-producing an online series exploring arts at the intersection of other public spheres, and other networking opportunities. We expect that emerging arts administrators based in rural communities and other locations with limited access to arts will be especially positively impacted from building a professional community and gaining long-term career support”, said AAAE’s executive director, Milena Deleva.
