Kari-Anne Innes

Dr. Kari-Anne Innes, Lecturer, is the Program Director of the Arts and Entertainment Administration graduate program at Valparaiso University. She teaches Introduction to Arts and Entertainment Administration; Marketing, Planning and Promotion; Comprehensive Project Planning and Implementation; and, International Arts and Entertainment. She holds a Ph.D. in Theatre from Bowling Green State University with graduate certificates in Performance Studies, and Women’s Studies. She received a MALS with an individualized concentration in Dramaturgy and a graduate certificate in Theology from Valparaiso University, where she also received her BA in Theatre and Television Arts. Currently, she serves on the Regional Arts Council for Northwest Indiana and is on the Artistic Committee of Chicago Street Theatre, where she also directs and is an instructor in the summer Shakespeare program. Prior to pursuing her doctorate, Innes was the Assistant Director of the Valparaiso University Center for the Arts where she was responsible for marketing and promotion, box office, and concert and tour management. She has also served as the Administrative Manager, The Humanities Troupe: Theatre for Community, Diversity, and Change; Stage Manager, Canterbury Summer Theatre; Literary Manager, Kaleidoscope Learning Theatre; Administrative Apprentice, Purple Rose Theatre Company; and Administrative Intern, Chicago’s Training Center for the Working Actor. Her academic work has been published in The Projector Film and Media Journal, Theatre Journal, Text and Performance Quarterly, Departures in Critical Qualitative Research, Ecumenica, and Christianity and Theatre. She presents regularly at conferences including Association of Arts Administration Educators, National Communication Association, and Association for Theatre in Higher Education. She is a member of Self Employment in the Arts.
