Using a 2023 international study of artists that recorded 1,979 responses from 32 countries as the base, this session will address some of the challenges of surveying artists and expanding a national study for an international group of both participants and readers. Session topics include recruiting volunteer participants, working with translators, creating international partnerships, and designing surveys and survey reports for an international pool of artists while recognizing (and retaining) a strong majority from the original country.

David McGraw

Prof. McGraw leads the Arts Administration program at Elon University. He served as a research fellow for the Strategic National Arts Alumni Project in 2021. He worked with the South African State Theatre on a Fulbright Specialist Grant to bring FREEDOM: The Musical to the United States (pandemic postponed).
