Shannon Hooker

Shannon Hooker is Assistant Director at the Modlin Center for the Arts, where she is responsible for overseeing operations and volunteer activities, developing K-12 programs and leading educational and outreach programming efforts with visiting artists, with long-and-short-term artist residencies on campus, in public schools and the greater community. She also teaches in Richmond’s arts management concentration program.

Prior to joining the University of Richmond, she was director of arts and programs at University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Campus Life, a building complex which included a student center, university union and conference center. At UNCW, she supervised a range of student life programming and operations, including the development of a performing arts, lecture and film series. She oversaw the operations and programming of the University Union’s art gallery, game room, and movie theater and produced a multi-disciplinary season of national and international artists and guest speakers.

A graduate of Winthrop University with a bachelor’s degree in Music, she received her Master of Arts in Arts Administration from the University of New Orleans. She has been actively involved in the arts on the state level, having served on the executive board of the North Carolina Presenters Consortium and most recently a participant with the South Arts Dance Touring Initiative.
