SUMMARY:Creating an International Study of Artists: Lessons Learned
DESCRIPTION:Join us on November 21\, 2024 at 1:00 pm EST for the next event in our Virtual Research Series\, Creating an International Study of Artists: Lessons Learned with David McGraw! This event is free for AAAE members and $6 for non-AAAE members. Session topics include recruiting volunteer participants\, working with translators\, creating international partnerships\, and designing surveys and survey reports for an international pool of artists while recognizing (and retaining) a strong majority from the original country. \nDavid McGraw \nProf. McGraw leads the Arts Administration program at Elon University. He served as a research fellow for the Strategic National Arts Alumni Project in 2021. He worked with the South African State Theatre on a Fulbright Specialist Grant to bring FREEDOM: The Musical to the United States (pandemic postponed).

SUMMARY:Photo-Elicitation: Breaking Down Barriers in Arts Administration Research
DESCRIPTION:Join us on October 24\, 2024 at 1:00 pm EST to learn more about barriers in Arts Administration with Elise Kieffer\, PhD! This event is free for AAAE members and $6 for non-AAAE members. Register here or click the link below. \n“A picture is worth a thousand words.” The phrase highlights the phenomenon that a single image\, be it a drawing\, painting\, photograph\, or other\, can communicate more efficiently and effectively than many words joined together to create a verbal description. This sentiment can be incorporated as a tool into arts administration research to provide rich data\, cross cultures\, and negotiate difference. \nElise Lael Kieffer\, PhD \nDr. Kieffer serves as Program Director and Assistant Professor of Nonprofit Leadership Studies and as Director of the Nonprofit Resource Center at Murray State University. She is the author or Rural Arts Management (co-authored with Dr. Jerome Socolof for Routledge\, 2024) and she is currently writing “Photo Elicitation: Negotiating Power Dynamics and Cross-Cultural Communication” (Bloomsbury).
