How has being a member impacted your career, teaching, or research in arts administration?
The network of AAAE is generous and multi-generational. As with most networks, it is fantastic to find peers; however, what is unique about AAAE is that you also find mentors and mentees. The intergenerationally of the community lends itself to a continuous continuity of development of the arts administration education field with deep-rooted connections which support both individual and collective growth.
How has being part of the AAAE community enriched your academic or professional network?
I initially joined AAAE when I began teaching in graduate arts management programs in 2019. Since then, the community has become a home for my pedagogical and professional practice. As a “prac-ademic”, it is rare to find a community which values both your contributions in the classroom and also in the field. We are a community of hybridity – between the arts, management, education, community development and more – and the peer learning experiences reflect this to support our entire professional selves.
