Abstract

This paper will focus specifically on the dilemmas facing Black arts administrators in starting Black companies today. While anyone with an interest in the genre can start a theater that is devoted to producing work that gives Black artists an opportunity to express themselves, it is a significant and documented fact that the experience of living as a person of color in America provides one with a unique perspective that cannot be duplicated or appropriated by someone who has not lived the experience.
