Collaboration with Schools: Overcoming the Challenges of Working with the Maryland School System

This major paper explores how the changing climate in the Maryland School System is impacting arts programs, including potential cuts to programs. This paper is meant to inform arts administrators and arts organizations about the school system and assist them in forming partnerships in order to preserve arts education. The paper examines likely challenges in establishing collaborative efforts, how to overcome these obstacles. I hope to create an understanding that without the help of the arts community, comprehensive arts education in Maryland schools is in danger of disappearing.
